Resumo: Hibiscus sabdariffa L, belongs to the Malvaceae family, having antioxidant characters of interest to the pharmaceutical industry. This work aimed to develop a cosmetic formulation based on the extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa L, highlighting its antioxidant activity. The methodology of this material is based on the phytochemical analysis of the extract, evaluation of toxicity against Artemia salina and, finally, stability tests of the formulations. Within the main results, phytochemical tests demonstrated the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids and tannins, whereas with regard to the total polyphenol content, the average with the highest content was that of the hydromodule 1: 8 with 0.875 (mgGA) / g. The extract found with the least toxicity was the 1:10 hydromodule with the LC50 value found of ± 29270.3 µL / mL. The most stable formulation was that with a 14% lanette concentration in a 15-day analysis. Therefore, the 1:10 hydromodule has an advantage with regard to the choice for the production of the pharmaceutical formulation containing the extract of Hibiscus sabdariffa, judging by its lower toxicity and its capacity as an antioxidant.

Centro de Inovação em Biodiversidade e Saúde - Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz2021-12-17info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmltext/xmlhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/111010.32712/2446-4775.2021.1110Revista Fitos; Vol. 15 No. 4 (2021); 432-443Revista Fitos; Vol. 15 Núm. 4 (2021); 432-443Revista Fitos; v. 15 n. 4 (2021); 432-4432446-47751808-9569reponame:Revista Fitosinstname:Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)instacron:FIOCRUZporhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1110/919https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1110/920https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1110/981Copyright (c) 2021 Revista Fitosinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessSousa, José Maria AguiarCaldas, Jeanne MarquesBrito, Maria Cristiane Aranha2022-02-01T14:41:04Zoai:ojs.revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br:article/1110Revistahttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/PUBhttp://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/oairevistafitos@far.fiocruz.br || eugenio.telles@far.fiocruz.br2446-47752446-4775opendoar:2022-02-01T14:41:04Revista Fitos - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)false
