Resumo: Among the herbal drug manufacturers, which arose in the nineteenth century in Rio de Janeiro, is Casa Granado, specializing in monodrugs produced in various dosage forms: fluid extracts, simple extracts, creams, tinctures, capsules etc. The long period of nearly a century in which these herbal medicines were used is evidence of their effectiveness and safety. For this reason a reexamination was made of the 381 medicinal plants commercialized by Casa Granado. These medicinal plants, native and exotic, used from the late nineteenth century until the late twentieth century were reevaluated. A total of 67 plants of the 1st Brazilian Pharmacopoeia on the list of plants of Casa Granado with evidence in scientific and technical literature of the efficacy and safety were found. Of these 67 plants, only five are presently contemplated for simplified registration by the regulatory agency ANVISA. The study indicates that many of these plants are apt for simplified registration by ANVISA based on their traditional use, taking advantage of the latest scientific and technical studies that complement the information on safety and effectiveness.

Centro de Inovação em Biodiversidade e Saúde - Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz2016-03-01info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersiontext/htmlapplication/pdfhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/28010.5935/2446-4775.20150027Revista Fitos; Vol. 9 No. 4 (2015); 293-296Revista Fitos; Vol. 9 Núm. 4 (2015); 293-296Revista Fitos; v. 9 n. 4 (2015); 293-2962446-47751808-9569reponame:Revista Fitosinstname:Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)instacron:FIOCRUZporhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/280/html_16https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/280/pdf_84Copyright (c) 2016 Revista Fitos Eletrônicainfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessde Oliveira, PreciosaGilbert, Benjamin2019-01-25T17:10:20Zoai:ojs.revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br:article/280Revistahttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/PUBhttp://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/oairevistafitos@far.fiocruz.br || eugenio.telles@far.fiocruz.br2446-47752446-4775opendoar:2019-01-25T17:10:20Revista Fitos - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)false
