Sharing knowledge about medicinal plants in public schools

Resumo: People's search for knowledge about medicinal plants is growing due to the increase in the use of this resource for the treatment of diseases, which shows the need for educational activities for the identification and correct use of these species. Thus, in order to meet the demand for qualification on medicinal plants, the community project “ECOFARMA: sharing knowledge on medicinal plants” was created, carried out in two schools, in Pelotas and Canguçu, Rio Grande do Sul. The activities involved workshops about botanical identification, cultivation and forms of use. The students showed interest and actively participated in the proposed activities, which provided them with greater learning, in addition to becoming multipliers of knowledge about medicinal plants within their families and community in which they live.

Assim, com o objetivo de atender a demanda por qualificação sobre plantas medicinais, foi criado o projeto de extensão “ECOFARMA: compartilhando saberes sobre plantas medicinais”, realizado em duas escolas, de Pelotas e Canguçu, no Rio Grande do Sul. As ações envolveram oficinas que abordaram desde a identificação botânica das plantas, cultivo, até as formas de uso.
