Resumo: | This study provides a comprehensive review on the species Jatropha curcas L. (Euphorbiaceae), covering its ethnobotanic and phytochemical aspects as well as the biological activities, including the toxicity of the different extracts originated from diverse parts of the plant. The survey is complemented by issues concerning the economical value of the species and its potential for generating energy (biofuel) and the related patents on the theme. |

(Euphorbiaceae), abordando seus aspectos etnobotânicos e fitoquímicos, assim como as atividades biológicas, incluindo a toxicidade de seus diferentes extratos de diversas partes da planta; assim como os aspectos relacionados à biotecnologia vegetal.
