Resumo: Phytotherapy is one of the practices that are part of the National Policy of Integrative and Complementary Practices (PNPIC), of the Brazilian Ministry of Health, being part of the Primary Care of the Unified Health System (SUS), including for Dentistry. Thus, the aim of this work was to systematize the main products of vegetal origin with therapeutic potential for Dentistry, through the integrative review of official documents (monographs of pharmacopoeias) and articles available in the indexed databases. In total, 24 plant species were listed in 35 preparations and five pharmaceutical specialties, distributed among the therapeutic classes - topical anesthetic, anxiolytic, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, oral antiseptic, antiviral, hemostatic, hydrating/epidermal protector and others. Despite the difficulties of incorporating Phytotherapy into clinical practice, research, development and innovation expand the therapeutic possibilities for the population, with the advantage of presenting low cost in the health promotion process, consistent with the current moment of humanization of the professional relationship / patient, both in public policies and in social actions.

Centro de Inovação em Biodiversidade e Saúde - Farmanguinhos/Fiocruz2021-09-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdftext/htmltext/htmlhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/110210.32712/2446-4775.2021.1102Revista Fitos; Vol. 15 No. 1 (2021); 58-77Revista Fitos; Vol. 15 Núm. 1 (2021); 58-77Revista Fitos; v. 15 n. 1 (2021); 58-772446-47751808-9569reponame:Revista Fitosinstname:Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)instacron:FIOCRUZporhttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1102/906https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1102/907https://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/article/view/1102/908Copyright (c) 2021 Revista Fitoshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Monteiro, Maria Helena Duraes AlvesFraga, Sandra Aparecida Padilha Magalhães2021-09-30T12:51:45Zoai:ojs.revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br:article/1102Revistahttps://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/PUBhttp://revistafitos.far.fiocruz.br/index.php/revista-fitos/oairevistafitos@far.fiocruz.br || eugenio.telles@far.fiocruz.br2446-47752446-4775opendoar:2021-09-30T12:51:45Revista Fitos - Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (FIOCRUZ)false
