The biochemical woman: inventions of the feminine from discourses on the contraceptive pill

Resumo: | The contraceptive pill, the most used reversible contraceptive in Brazil, becomes, in the media, motivation for the production of discourses about women. If its invention allowed the dissociation between sexual practice and motherhood, the drug is currently considered harmful in some contexts. From the theoretical perspective of genealogy, we analyze which inventions of the feminine are possible base on the discourses on the pill today. As methodology, we used the analysis of the discourse of reports of Veja magazine and of posts from non-hormonal contraception groups on the social network site Facebook. The results show that, in the reports, the drug appears as the motor of emancipation of the woman; while in the groups new activisms raise the flag of body without pill as a political action for the conquest of freedom. We conclude that, in the regime of contemporary knowledge-power, the rescue of the natural female body reconfigures itself as a device of freedom against the control of medicalization. |

Si su invención ha permitido la disociación entre la práctica sexual y la maternidad, actualmente el fármaco es considerado perjudicial en algunos contextos. A partir de la perspectiva teórica de la genealogía, analizamos las invenciones femeninas que son posibles a partir de los discursos sobre la píldora en la actualidad. Como metodología para esta investigación, utilizamos el análisis de discurso de los informes de la revista Veja y de las publicaciones en grupos de anticoncepción no hormonales en la red social Facebook. Los resultados demuestran que, en la revista, el producto aparece como el motor de la emancipación de la mujer; mientras que en los grupos nuevos activismos levantan la bandera del cuerpo sin píldora como acción política para la conquista de la libertad. Concluimos que, en el esquema de saber-poder contemporáneo, el rescate del cuerpo femenino natural se configura como un dispositivo de liberación frente al control de la medicalización.A pílula anticoncepcional, contraceptivo reversível mais utilizado no Brasil, torna-se, na mídia, motivação para a produção de discursos sobre a mulher. Se sua invenção facultou a dissociação entre a prática sexual e a maternidade, atualmente o medicamento é considerado nocivo em alguns contextos. A partir da perspectiva teórica da genealogia, analisamos quais são as invenções possíveis do feminino a partir dos discursos sobre a pílula hoje. Como metodologia, utilizamos a análise do discurso de reportagens da revista Veja e de postagens em grupos de contracepção não hormonal no site de rede social Facebook. Os resultados mostram que, nas matérias, o medicamento aparece como motor de emancipação da mulher; enquanto nos grupos novos ativismos levantam a bandeira do corpo sem pílula como ação política pela conquista da liberdade.
