Resumo: The article summarizes fundamentals, knowledge and asthma state of art, a theoretical review of clinical and psychological implications of this illness. Examines health education concept and the programs of health education for asthma patients. Focusing on children and adolescents, reflects on the question of motivation, considered essential in the educational intervention. Investigates the use of audiovisual materials for foster youth motivation, commitment and adherence to treatment. Concludes that audiovisual resources can provide positive results in this direction.

Analisa o conceito de educação em saúde e os programas de educação em saúde a portadores de asma. Com foco na população formada por crianças e adolescentes, reflete sobre a questão da motivação, considerada essencial na intervenção educativa. Investiga o uso de material audiovisual para fomentar motivação, aderência e comprometimento com o tratamento por jovens.
