A Dengue e sua relação com Educação Ambiental no município de Quissamã/RJ

Dengue is a major public health problem in the world and in the state of Rio de Janeiro is considered an epidemic. Dengue is a disease that affects over 100 million people worldwide each year. In Brazil, it is one that has the greatest impact on public health. Transmitted by a mosquito, Aedes aegypti, dengue, in our country, focuses on a specific period, and about 70% of cases occur from January to May. The control of this disease is typically urban rather complex, involving, besides the health sector, factors such as infrastructure of cities, transportation of people and cargo, the environment, among others. In the municipality of Quissamã, this disease has been discussed with great attention by the City Health Department, along with Department of Health Surveillance, which according to these departments, in 2011 the city experienced an outbreak of this disease, which had to change the strategy of the work done by professionals, and insert and other preventive measures, events and educational talks to bring more knowledge to the people, so that the same can help in controlling and combating mosquito breeding transmitter virus of this disease. With this work, we reached the conclusion that environmental education is still a measure that should be taken into account in combat and vector control transmitter of the virus responsible for the disease.
