Resumo: Introduction: Infection by dengue virus causes a febrile syndrome with great variety of manifestations. Myalgia is a common complaint. However, occasionally it is localized, affects motion and is associated with laboratorial findings of myositis. Objective: To describe clinical and laboratorial features of myositis in a pediatric patient with dengue fever. Method: Revision of clinical records. Case report: A 5-year old boy was examinated at fifth day of presentation of high fever, headache, and lethargy with difficulty walking due to gastrocnemiussoleus tenderness. Laboratory studies demonstrated leukopenia and elevation of transaminase and creatine phosphokinase. Complete recovery occurred within one week. IgM for dengue was positive. Conclusion: In endemic regions, dengue fever must be considered in differential diagnosis of benign acute childhood myositis.
