Bibliometrical indicators on skin cancer in the Scopus base

Resumo: Skin cancer is the most frequently found type of neoplasm in Brazil and it is considered a public health problem. In this sense, this study addresses the issue of skin cancer, presenting the bibliometric indicators on the subject in the Scopus database. The United States represents the country with the largest number of publications, corresponding to 31.5% and it is observed that publications on the subject have been increasing in Brazil and worldwide. The authors with the most publications worldwide areDummer, R and Thompson, JF with 308 and 279 publications, respectively. In Brazil, Sanches J.A and Sotto, M.N.are the most prominent authors, with 25 and 24 publications, respectively. Regarding the main periodicals withpublications on the subject, the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology is in first position with 2380 publications, while in Brazil, the Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologiaoccupies the first position in the subject with 441 publications. Regarding the Medical Centers and Universities with the most publications on skin cancer, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center worldwide and USP in Brazil are the most relevant. We conclude that Brazil has been presenting a significant growth in publications on skin cancer, following a worldwide trend and evidencing the relevance of the subject and the continuing need for research on this topic.

Neste sentido, o presente estudo aborda a temática do câncer de pele, apresentando os indicadores bibliométricos a respeito do tema na base Scopus. Foi possível constatar que os Estados Unidos representam o país com maior número de publicações, correspondendo a 31,5%. Além disso, foi observado que as publicações no tema vêm aumentando no Brasil e no mundo. Os autores com mais publicações a nível mundial são Dummer, R e Thompson, JF com 308 e 279 publicações,respectivamente. No Brasil, Sanches J.A e Sotto, M.N. são os autores com maior destaque, com 25 e 24 publicações, respectivamente. No que diz respeito aos principais periódicos com publicações no tema abordado, o Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology estáem primeira posição com 2380 publicações, enquanto, no Brasil, os Anais Brasileiros de Dermatologia ocupam a primeira posição no assunto, com 441 publicações. No que se refere aos Centros Médicos e Universidades com maior número de publicações no tema câncer de pele, a University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, a nível mundial, e a USP, no Brasil são os mais relevantes. A partir de tais considerações, conclui-se que o Brasil vem apresentandoum crescimento significativo nas publicações em câncer de pele, acompanhando uma tendência mundial.
