Resumo: The purpose of this article is to discuss the vision of wholeness in health weaving a dialogue with psychoanalysis. The hospital, a place of life and death to the human subject, is dangerous from the hospital with their diagnoses, invasive and native instruments medical technology effects. The prevailing biomedical model confirms these effects in that it does not consider human subjectivity. The concept of integral care globalizing invites us to look at the individual, setting the psychosocial model, which presents itself as a critique of the anatomical-clinical model, or biomedical, emerged in the late eighteenth century. The focus turns to a critical analysis of the obstacles involving the biomedical model and its crossing by the various discourses that make up the hospital environment. The text discusses the vision of emancipated subject, opened by modern science leading to a utopian vision intact, complete subject. Finally, this article also brings up the psychoanalytic contributions, knowing inaugurated by Freud and Lacan later worked on the place of psychoanalysis, the analyst’s and its possibilities within the general hospital, place of pain and suffering where the model biomedical seizes through its organic reductionism strongly rooted.
