Multiple anatomical variations in the branches of the aortic arch and middle cerebral artery: an angiographic study

Introduction: Understandin these variations requires prior knowledge of the vasculogenesis and angiogenesis of the embryo. Case report: A 32-year-old female patient with a history of holocranial headache and nausea for 24 hours who did not relent to analgesics. She underwent imaging tests that demonstrated occlusion of the right vertebral artery and dissection of the left vertebral artery, aortic arch presenting non-pathological anatomical variations with the anomalous origin of the right subclavian artery and a common trunk of the carotid arteries, besides non-pathological anatomical variation, trifurcation of the middle cerebral artery. Comments: The clinical repercussions of anatomical variations are clinically important for a more adequate and safe individual analysis in decision making.
