Resumo: The care practice comprises some situations that can lead to stress, causing damage to health, as well as to the quality of care provided. Burnout syndrome is related to this working stress. It is found mainly in workers who perform care activities; characterized by the triad: low professional achievement, emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. Objectives: To investigate the presence of Burnout Syndrome in formal caregivers of elderlies from a long-staying institution ; to correlate with physical activity level, quality of life, anxiety and depression. Method: This is a descriptive, cross-sectional, qualitative and quantitative study, with a convenience sample of 82 caregivers. Materials: Demographic questionnaire, Maslach Burnout Invetory - Human Services Survey, Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, International Physical Activity Questionnaire - short version and Medical Outcomes Study-36-Item Short- Form Health Survey. Results: A total of 100% of female caregivers, mean age of 37.7 years and married were observed. Most had high school education, 67.1% had no specialization in the area of care. According to the evaluation of Burnout Syndrome; 64.6% presented low score for the emotional exhaustion domain and 78.5% low score for the depersonalization domain, and 58.2% high score for the professional achievement domain; 63% and 76% unlikely levels of anxiety and depression respectively. 60% moderate levels of physical activity, followed by 39% with low level. Regarding quality of life, the domain of pain presented the lowest score. There was no statistical difference when comparing MBI-HSS between day and night shifts. The correlation between IPAQ and MBI-HSS has not also not presented statistical difference. When correlating the quality of life questionnaire with MBI-HSS, a correlation was found between the domain emotional exhaustion and vitality (-0.028), professional achievement and mental health (0.003), depersonalization with vitality (- 0.286) and mental health (-0.276). We did not find correlation between age and education with the MBI-HSS domains. Conclusion: The presence of Burnout Syndrome in this sample was considered low and the correlation between Burnout and age, education, anxiety and depression have not presented statistical evidence.

Submitted by Suzana Dias (suzana.dias@famerp.br) on 2018-11-06T17:09:19Z No. of bitstreams: 1 DanielleMagossoMilaniRosa_dissert.pdf: 2469038 bytes, checksum: 8d1230a41ed81e25b7bb525b2077c06e (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2018-11-06T17:09:19Z (GMT).
