Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of gastrointestinal parasites found in dog feces, in public squares of the municipalities of Pedro Osório and Cerrito. The collections were carried out monthly between January 2017 and January 2018, in each collection, three faeces samples were collected from each of the three squares studied, two from Pedro Osório and one from Cerrito, totaling 108 samples. The faeces were processed by the method of Willis & Mollay (1921). Of the total samples, 98 were positive for at least one genus of parasite, 90.7% of the total. The most prevalent parasite was Ancylostoma spp., present in 88 samples, representing 81.5% of the total. Also found, eggs of Toxocara spp, Trichuris spp., Dipylidium caninum and Isosopora sp. Oocysts. The result found in this study, indicates the need to adopt sanitary measures to reduce the contamination of these sites by eggs of parasites with zoonotic potential, because the high prevalence found, expose the risk that the visitors of these places are subject.
