Resumo: Introduction: Schizophrenia usually manifests in late adolescence or early adulthood before age 40. The course of the disease is always chronic and tends to deteriorate the personality of the individual. When they appear near adolescence, acute onset has a better prognosis for recovery, especially when the personality has developed satisfactorily. The onset of the disease is earlier in men (between 15 and 25 years) and later in women (between 25 and 30 years old). Schizophrenia has 3 phases: acute, stabilization and relapse. According to the 10th Revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD 10), schizophrenic disorders are generally characterized by fundamental distortions and characteristics of thinking and perception, and by inappropriate or blunted affects. Consciousness and intellectual ability usually remain clear, although certain cognitive deficits may evolve over time. Thus, the movie A Brilliant Mind brings this theme with the purpose of promoting the work of Individual Psychotherapy, because numerous works show the benefits of individual psychotherapy in a schizophrenic. Thus, it is evident the character of the character of the movie Jon Nash, played by the renowned actor Russell Ira Crowe. Objective: The present study aims to highlight the history of a mathematics teacher, who suffered from a disturbing disease, schizophrenia, also highlights the overcoming of the professor as a professional in a university, because the students found certain behaviors of Jon strange. Nash, because he often had difficulty understanding what was real, it was very complicated, but through individual psychotherapy he found help and managed to live his life of acceptance, lived with his illness and became brilliant in everything saying “ every problem has a solution. ” Methodology: The methodology adopted was the appreciation of the movie 'A Bright Mind', the basis of study for this writing, a reference to a need to discuss the themes contained in the plot, The movie A Bright Mind, presents the story of Mathematician John Nash, whose ideas influenced economic theories, the biology of evolution and games. This study was presented in the classroom about the theme and didactic resource of the Teaching Practice discipline. It was also analyzed through biases such as psychology, education, social sciences and mathematics. Soon, the character John Nash stood out as brilliant mathematician, very intelligent, but suffered from schizophrenia. Considerations: Therefore, after reviewing the movie A Brilliant Mind, it is noted that the treatment of schizophrenia is intended to prolong the stabilization phase, but sometimes it is difficult to avoid relapses, returning to the most acute phase of the disease. Signs of relapse are as follows: aggression or fear, agitation, strange ideas, nonsense speech, carelessness of appearance or hygiene, abuse of alcohol or other substances. The patient will need to make an early pharmacological intervention due to the decrease in hospitalizations. One of the main reasons for relapse is therapeutic compliance not performed by the individual, due to medication side effects, alcohol or drug use or difficult relationship between the doctor, family and patient.

A esquizofrenia possui 3 fases: aguda, estabilização e recaída.
