Suicide is a subject that some people fear to discuss. Currently, studies on this theme have increased in order to know it better in its modalities and ways to avoid it. Among the forms of prevention, religion can be seen as a protective factor against the suicidal mind. In this sense, the present study aims to address suicide and how the sciences and spiritist doctrine understand it and contribute to minimize its occurrence. The theoretical study covers a conceptual review of the literature, with no restriction on the year and date of publication of the research materials used that include books, booklets, articles, theses and dissertations found in physical and virtual libraries in various databases. Internet. The study showed that the sciences seek to understand pain and what causes the subject to commit such an act, thus seeking to adopt preventive measures. It was also evident that the spiritist religion can help in the prevention of suicide, because it is believed that with Spiritism the hope of the individual is renewed, making him stronger and protected as to the act. Despite these benefits, it is believed that further research related to this theme is important and necessary especially with field research.
