The introduction of palliative care in Brazil occurred around the 2000s. Since then, much has been discovered about this approach, which aims to support not only the patient, but their families during the process of illness and death. This study consists of an integrative review that aims to apprehend the development of the teaching of Palliative Care in brazilian medical schools. LiLACS and Scielo databases were used for data collection, resulting in the selection of 12 articles. The analysis of the content allowed the formulation of 2 categories: approach to palliative care in Brazilian medical schools and difficulties that involve the teaching of palliative care in Brazil. As it is a public health issue, it is necessary that the topic be worked on effectively within Brazilian medical schools. However, there was an important lack of conceptual knowledge on the part of students and health professionals, which leads to their unpreparedness to deal with incurability and end of life situations.
