Resumo: | This study aimed to analyze the impact of the multidisciplinary group intervention in the treatment of overweight women. We conducted an uncontrolled intervention study of quantitative nature with women who were overweight or obese, submitted to a group coordinated by a multidisciplinary team that associated nutritional counseling, physical exercise and psychology actions for motivation and behavioral change for a period of 12 weeks. Anthropometric and dietary evaluations were performed using a Food Frequency Questionnaire, before and after the intervention, and a questionnaire related to changes achieved and the satisfaction with the group. Statistical analysis was performed using Student's t test, considering a significance level of less than 5%. After the intervention, there was a significant reduction (p<0,001) of weight, waist circumference and body mass index. Major changes in lifestyle were also observed, such as increased physical activity, increased fiber intake, and reduction of salt, processed foods, sugars and frequency of consumption of red meat. Regarding compliance, 55% of participants did not complet the program; the most cited reason given by those who drop out for non-compliance was lack of time. It was concluded that the group multidisciplinary intervention is an important strategy in the treatment of overweight and obesity, because it can work the different aspects involved in overweight, contributing to the change in lifestyle and the reduction of associated risks factors. |
