Nurses’ competences in hospital management

Resumo: | Objective: to know the skills required from the nursing professional in the exercise of hospital management. Methods: It is a study of descriptive and exploratory nature, a literature review, conducted in LILACS and BDENF electronic databases, using the controlled descriptors hospital management, nursing and professional skills, in the period from 2005 to 2015. The search found 282 publications, but only 8 articles remained after the analysis. Results: the skills identified in the texts have been accommodated in four blocks: values, understanding, behavior and actions, creating an overview of the expected profile for the nurse manager. Several authors reveal what is required to develop a strategic vision, to promote the development of the people managed; cite some managerial tools; and analyze the integration of care and management. The need to break paradigms that will lead nurses to more humanized management models consistent with contemporary administration was perceived. Conclusions: It can be concluded that nurses lack a global vision of the institution and its target market; the most striking difficulties are to deal with people, to manage conflicts, and to balance the interests of the institution and those who are managed; the relevance given to the analysis of quality and performance indicators became clear; and the construction of integration between management and assistance was strongly highlighted in the articles. |

Métodos: Estudo de caráter descritivo e exploratório, do tipo revisão bibliográfica, realizado nas bases de dados LILACS e BDENF a partir dos descritores controlados gestão hospitalar, Enfermagem e competência profissional, no período de 2005 a 2015. A busca revelou 282 publicações, porém após a análise resultaram 08 artigos.Resultados: As competências identificadas nos textos foram acomodadas em quatro blocos: valores, compreensão, comportamentos e ações, gerando uma síntese do perfil esperado para o enfermeiro gestor. Os autores pesquisados revelam o que é necessário para desenvolver uma visão estratégica, promover o desenvolver das pessoas lideradas, citam algumas ferramentas gerenciais e analisam a integração entre assistência e gestão. Foi percebida a necessidade de quebra de paradigmas que conduza a Enfermagem a modelos de gestão mais humanizados e coerentes com a administração contemporânea. Conclusões: Falta aos enfermeiros uma visão global da instituição e do seu mercado-alvo; a dificuldade mais pungente é saber lidar com pessoas, gerenciar conflitos e equilibrar os interesses dos liderados e da instituição.
