Este artigo tem como objetivo discutir a segregação socioespacial no espaço urbano, buscando apontar seus determinantes fundamentais e refletir sobre as possibilidades e os limites da intervenção estatal mediante planejamento e políticas urbanas, na atual fase do capitalismo mundial. Para o aporte teórico, utilizaram renomados autores, como: Lojkine (1981), Ianni (1986), Meszáros (2011) e Mota (2008). A metodologia desenvolvida é típica das pesquisas bibliográficas, no intuito de vislumbrar novas perspectivas teóricas e possibilidades de modificar o espaço social urbano, em face do seu planejamento estratégico para o enfrentamento dos conflitos de segregação socioespacial. Os resultados apontam que a segregação pode ser visualizada pela: a) segregação das atividades e dos locais de moradia; b) distribuição dos serviços e equipamentos coletivos; e c) subordinação dos meios de transporte à lógica segregativa. O estudo mostrou que as tendências do planejamento urbano estatal, apesar de cada vez mais participativas e transparentes, ainda não foram capazes de apontar ações que impactem essa realidade, na tentativa de minimizar seus efeitos perversos, tendo em vista a manutenção da segregação socioespacial em níveis administráveis. Palavras-chave: Urbanização. Políticas Urbanas.  ABSTRACT                                                                   This article aims to discuss the socio-spatial segregation in urban areas, seeking to identify its fundamental determinants and reflect on the possibilities and limits of state intervention through planning and urban policy, in the current phase of world capitalism. For the theoretical framework, used renowned authors such as: Lojkine (1981), Ianni (1986), Meszaros (2011) and Mota (2008). The methodology is typical of literature searches in order to envision new theoretical perspectives and ways of shaping the urban social space, in view of its strategic plan for dealing with conflicts of socio-spatial segregation. The results show that segregation can be seen by: a) segregation of activities and places of residence; b) distribution of services and community facilities; c) subordination of means of transport to the segregationist logic. The study showed that the trends of the state urban planning, although increasingly participatory and transparent, have not been able to point out actions that impact this reality in an attempt to minimize its adverse effects in order to maintain the socio-spatial segregation levels manageable. Keywords: Urbanization.
