Este artigo tem como principal objetivo avaliar e identificar os principais fatores de fracasso na disciplina matemática aplicada do Curso de Administração do Centro Universitário Santo Agostinho (UNIFSA). Para esse fim, utilizam-se modelos econométricos de regressão linear múltipla (RLM) e regressão logística (RL) na tentativa de discriminar adequadamente fatores que influenciam o fracasso ou sucesso na disciplina de matemática aplicada à administração. A amostra de dados utilizada foi obtida através de um questionário aplicado aos alunos dessa disciplina, entre os períodos 2003/1 a 2007/1 a fim de construir as variáveis que possivelmente explicam os determinantes do sucesso dos alunos nessa disciplina. Além disso, houve uma consulta às notas dos alunos junto a Secretaria Acadêmica do UNIFSA. Os resultados obtidos apontam que a maioria das variáveis apresentou sinal esperado e significância estatística na explicação das notas e sucessos obtidos pelos alunos. Ou seja, as variáveis faltas (ausência de sala de aula), procedência do ensino médio, idade do aluno e escolaridade do pai foram os determinantes principais na explicação do sucesso dos alunos nessa disciplina. Palavras-Chave: Matemática. Regressão Logística. ABSTRACT This article has as main purpose not only to evaluate but also to identify the main failure factors in the Applied Mathematics subject in the Administration Course of Santo Agostinho College (SAC). In order of that, it is used econometric models of multiple linear regression (MLR) and logistic regression (LR) in the tentative of discriminate suitable for factors that influence the failure or success in the Applied Mathematics to Administration. The sample of data used was attained through a questionnaire applied to those students who have studied this subject from 2003/1 to 2007/1 in order to construct the variables that possibly explain the students success determinants in this subject. In addition to, it was consulted the marks taken together Santo Agostinho Academic Service. The results show that most variables presented the waited signal and statistics significance in the explication of the marks and success achieved by the students. In other words, the variables like lacks (absence in the classroom), origin of High School, student age and father educational level were the main determinants in the explication of the students success in this subject. Keywords: Mathematics.
