Este texto trata da relação estabelecida pela produção teórica de Umberto Eco e o seu romance “O pêndulo de Foucault” (1988). Pretendemos, pois, demonstrar aqui, de que forma Eco aplica os conceitos de “real”, “discurso ficcional”, “atos de fingir” e “intencionalidade”. Para tanto, foram importantes as colaborações teóricas de Wolfang Iser (1979), Umberto Eco (1988), Compagnon (1999) e Barthes (1972). Publicado originalmente em italiano no ano de 1988, o livro conta como três amigos se envolvem na criação de um “Plano” que governaria a humanidade. Cheio de informações, ideias e referências a sociedades secretas, o discurso ficcional do livro de Umberto Eco tem o efeito tal qual sua teoria aponta. No decorrer deste artigo procurar-se-á indicar as características da ficção no texto de Umberto Eco, bem como de que forma o imaginário e o discurso ficcional possuem uma intencionalidade, seja do autor, seja do próprio texto. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Discurso Ficcional. Interpretação. Intencionalidade ABSTRACT This text deals with the relationship established by the theoretical work of Umberto Eco and his novel "Foucault's Pendulum" (1988). We intend therefore demonstrate here how Eco applied the concepts of "real" “Fictional Discourse," “acts of pretending” and "intentionality." Thus, it was important for the theoretical contributions of Wolfgang Iser (1979), Umberto Eco (1988), Compagnon (1999) and Barthes (1972). Originally published in Italian in 1988, the book tells how three friends engage in creating a “Plan” that would rule mankind. Full of information, ideas, and references to secret societies, the fictional discourse Umberto Eco's book has the effect which such his theory points. In this article, we intend to indicate the fiction features in the text by Umberto Eco, as well as how the imaginary and fictional discourse have intentionality, be it by the author, be it by the text itself. KEY WORDS: fictional discourse.
