O papel social da mulher, na maioria das vezes, está interligado à sua função enquanto esposa, mãe e zelante do lar. Essa teoria vem atravessando os tempos ainda por meio de um pensamento retrógrado e pouco discutido, principalmente quando somada à pobreza, um ponto agravante e presente na realidade de muitas mulheres brasileiras. Dessa forma, é importante refletir sobre as marcas que a desigualdade social deixa na vida das mulheres e não se conformar com a ideia de que o poder de escolha individual é suficiente para ampliar os horizontes.  Este artigo consiste em uma revisão bibliográfica narrativa que busca discutir a respeito do papel social da mulher e as suas representações diante do contexto da romantização da pobreza, que tenta justificar o preconceito e a desigualdade enfrentada por essa classe social. Nesse sentido, percebe-se que a pobreza não é romântica e não é desejada, pois ninguém possui como projeto de vida ser pobre. Ela é fruto do sistema capitalista e arbitrada por uma ordem social perversa e silenciosamente consentida e isso é um fato que recaí sobre o “ser mulher”. Portanto, o presente artigo realizará uma discussão crítica sobre a questão da romantização da pobreza, bem como as representações do papel social da mulher em meio a essa realidade. Palavras-Chaves: Romantização da Pobreza. Papel Social. Mulher. Desigualdade Social. ABSTRACT The social role of women, in most cases, is intertwined with their role as wife, mother and caretaker of the home. This theory has been going through the times still through a backward thinking and little discussed, especially when added to poverty, an aggravating point and present in the reality of many Brazilian women. Thus, it is important to reflect on the marks that social inequality leaves in the lives of women and not to conform to the idea that the power of individual choice is sufficient to broaden horizons. This article consists of a narrative bibliographic review that seeks to discuss the social role of women and their representations in the context of the romanticization of poverty, which tries to justify the prejudice and inequality faced by this social class. In this sense, it is clear that poverty is not romantic and is not desired, because no one has a life project as being poor. It is the result of the capitalist system and arbitrated by a perverse and silently consented social order and this is a fact that fell on "being a woman". Therefore, this article will conduct a critical discussion on the issue of romanticizing poverty, as well as representations of the social role of women in the midst of this reality. Keywords: Romanticization of Poverty.
