Resumo: | There is a close relation between the idea of the individual and Protagoras’ “man the measure” doctrine. I propose to consider how far the individual represents a subject. Protagoras’ theory is presented in Plato’s Theaetetus as leading to the nonexistence of an intra-subjective criterion of truth. The Protagorean subject seems to be an individual enclosed within his own subjectivity whose measure is incommensurable with that of other individuals. But man as measure is producer of the world and so, in this way, may be understood as a subject. |

Proponho investigar se esse indivíduo representa um sujeito. A apresentação feita de Protágoras no Teeteto conduz à inexistência de um critério de verdade intersubjetivo. O sujeito protagoriano parece ser um indivíduo encerrado em sua subjetividade, cuja medida é incomensurável com a medida de outros indivíduos.
