Resumo: The article aims to discuss the relationship between the transformation processes of the contemporary Brazilian rural world and the obstacles faced by family farmers, whether bureaucratic or sociocultural, found in the access to social security rights, guaranteed by the constitutional clauses of the Democratic State of Law. The theoretical-methodological approach was of an exploratory aspect, based on the study of the related literature. It was possible to conclude that, although there is a vast legal-normative apparatus that seeks to mold itself to the transformations and social demands of family farmers, they face difficulties in accessing social security benefits, due to extralegal rules carried out by a portion of social security workers, reflecting on the search for rights through the judicial system.

O recorte teórico-metodológico adotado foi de natureza exploratória, utilizando a literatura sobre a temática.
