Poder, Estado e sociedade em Hobbes e Freud: reflexões sobre Leviatã e o mal-estar na civilização

Ensaio sobre as visões de Hobbes e Freud a respeito do poder e suas relações estruturantes na formação da sociedade e do Estado. Inicialmente, são apresentadas algumas reflexões sobre o trabalho de Hobbes, Leviatã, especificamente na primeira parte – Do Homem -, onde se encontram as idéias do pensador inglês sobre a natureza humana e os desejos que a movem. Esses desejos representam a principal área de intersecção com a psicanálise. A hipótese do trabalho repousa na influência do pensamento hobbesiano sobre a formação do que aqui é chamado pensamento social de Freud, ou seja, tudo aquilo sobre o qual o fundador da psicanálise produziu que, ultrapassando o interesse clínico, se espraiou sobre a sociedade e o seu processo civilizatório. O Mal-Estar na Civilização pode ser considerada uma obra síntese desse seu pensamento. O principal veio por onde é possível identificar formas convergentes das idéias dos dois pensadores é a descoberta da radical e fundante hostilidade entre o sujeito e a civilização (Kultur), o primeiro movido pelas paixões naturais (Hobbes) ou pulsões (Freud) e a segunda só se viabilizando na medida em que é capaz de reprimir e controlar estas paixões. This essay is concerned with Hobbes’s and Freud’s views on power and its structuring effects on society and state formation. It starts with some reflections on Hobbes’s Leviathan, particularly its first part – Of Man -, where his ideas on human nature and the desires that drive the former can be found. Such desires represent the main intersection area with psychoanalysis. The working hypothesis lays in the influence of Hobbesian thought on the formation of what is called here Freud’s social thinking, that is, everything the founder of psychoanalysis produced that, going beyond clinical interest, included society and the civilizing process. For these purposes, Civilization and its Discontents is taken as a synthesis of his thought. The main site where convergences between the two thinkers can be observed is the discovery of the radical and founding hostility between the subject and civilization (Kultur), the former impelled by the natural passions (Hobbes) or drives (Freud) and the latter only managing to constitute itself as far as it can repress and control those passions.
