THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FAMILY INVOLVEMENT AND EDUCATIONAL AND BEHAVIORAL OUTCOMES OF STUDENTS AT PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN RECIFE

Resumo: Previous studies suggest that there are academic benefits and socio-educational and behavioral improvements when a student's family is directly involved in their school life, be it father, mother or other guardians. In this article, we obtained estimates of changes in performance in 6th and 7th year students from the Public Network of Recife, when they were directly monitored by their families and guardians in various activities, with data collected from the Longitudinal Monitoring Survey of School Performance of Students from the Public Network of Recife. Recife Elementary School (FUNDAJ, 2018). It was found that students whose parents attend pedagogical duty have increases in their Portuguese Language and Mathematics grades, while students whose parents punish them for low grades tend to perform worse in subsequent assessments. A possible correlation was also observed between aggressive behavior at home and bullying in the classroom. KEYWORDS: School performance. Bullying. Education. Family Monitoring.

Family Monitoring.Estudios previos sugieren que existen beneficios académicos y mejoras socioeducativas y conductuales cuando la familia de un estudiante se involucra directamente en su vida escolar, ya sea el padre, la madre u otros tutores. En este artículo obtuvimos estimaciones de la evolución del desempeño de estudiantes de 6º y 7º año de la Red Pública de Recife, cuando fueron acompañados directamente por sus familiares y tutores en diversas actividades, con datos recopilados de la Encuesta de Monitoreo Longitudinal del Desempeño Escolar de los Estudiantes. de la Red Pública de Recife Escuela Primaria de Recife (FUNDAJ, 2018). Se encontró que los estudiantes cuyos padres cumplen funciones pedagógicas tienen aumentos en sus calificaciones en Lengua Portuguesa y Matemáticas, mientras que los estudiantes cuyos padres los castigan por bajas calificaciones tienden a obtener peores resultados en las evaluaciones posteriores. También se observó una posible correlación entre el comportamiento agresivo en casa y el acoso escolar. PALABRAS CLAVE: Rendimiento escolar. Bullying. Educación. Seguimiento familiar.Estudos anteriores sugerem que há benefícios acadêmicos e melhorias socioeducativas e comportamentais quando a família de um aluno está diretamente envolvida em sua vida escolar, seja pai, mãe ou outros responsáveis. Neste artigo obtivemos estimativas de mudança de desempenho em alunos do 6º e 7º ano da Rede Pública do Recife, ao serem acompanhados diretamente por seus familiares e responsáveis em diversas atividades, com dados colhidos da Pesquisa Acompanhamento Longitudinal do Desempenho Escolar de Alunos da Rede Pública de Ensino Fundamental do Recife (FUNDAJ, 2018). Foi encontrado que alunos cujos pais frequentam o plantão pedagógico têm aumentos nas suas notas de Língua Portuguesa e de Matemática, ao passo em que alunos cujos pais castigam por notas baixas costumam ter um desempenho pior em avaliações seguintes. Também foi observada uma possível correlação entre comportamentos agressivos no lar e a prática de bullying em sala de aula. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Desempenho escolar. Bullying. Escolaridade.
