BIRTH PROCESSES DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC: A PHENOMENOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF WOMEN ASSISTED IN MANAUS - AMAZONAS

This study aimed to understand childbirth care during the Covid-19 pandemic, from the experience of women. This is a qualitative, descriptive research with a phenomenological approach. The sample was defined by saturation and consisted of nine women who experienced prenatal care, labor and delivery during the Covid-19 pandemic in Manaus-AM, between March and December 2021. Data collection took place in the period between March and December 2021. November 2021 to February 2022, through an interview guided by a semi-structured script, whose focus was directed to the obstetric care received during the Covid-19 pandemic. Data were analyzed using Giorgi's phenomenological method. As a result, three units of meaning were found: 1) Basic emotion - fear; 2) Declared and undeclared difficulties - lack of guidance and communication; 3) Evaluation of obstetric care in the maternity hospital - good receptivity of the health team. The conclusions indicate a deficit in communication between professional and parturient, with a lack of information on obstetric care during the pandemic, in line with the lack of guidelines for the prevention of obstetric violence. The survey results help to understand the problems faced in Brazilian obstetric care during the Covid-19 pandemic. KEYWORDS: humanization of assistance; covid-19; obstetric violence; women's health
