Resumo: | The following paper brings to the reader the results achieved in a researched made Fundação Joaquim Nabuco, which had as its main objective bring forth resources to the educational policies which aim the betterment of civic integration, and pursuing the reinforcement of behaviors that are compromised with ethical principles and which contribute to a civic coexistence and to the promotion of social justice. The referred research resulted in the necessity of questioning an idea present in the national culture and seen as a distinguishing mark of the Brazilian character, which is, that we are a people inclined to subverting the requirements of the civilized world, an idea explored by various authors through categories such as cordiality, brazilian way, patrimonialism, trickery. Education.Este artículo trae al lector los resultados de las investigaciones realizadas por la Fundación Joaquim Nabuco y que tuvo como objetivo principal producir fundamentos para las políticas de educación direccionadas al mejoramiento de la ciudadanía, baseándose en el fortalecimiento de las conductas éticas que contribuyen a la convivencia ciudadana e incentivan la justicia social. Dicha investigación surgió de la necesidad de cuestionar la idea presente en la cultura nacional y asimilada como una característica del carácter brasileño, de que somos un pueblo inclinado a la subversión de los requisitos del mundo civilizado, idea abordada por diversos autores por medio de conceptos como la cordialidad, jeitinho brasileño, patrimonialización, chulería. Educación.O presente artigo traz ao leitor os resultados alcançados em uma pesquisa realizada pela Fundação Joaquim Nabuco, que teve como objetivo principal gerar subsídios para as políticas de educação direcionadas ao aprimoramento da cidadania, tendo como base o fortalecimento de comportamentos comprometidos com princípios éticos que contribuem para uma convivência cidadã e para a promoção da justiça social. A referida pesquisa resultou da necessidade de se questionar uma ideia presente na cultura nacional e vista como sendo uma marca do caráter brasileiro de que somos um povo inclinado a subverter as exigências de um pretenso mundo civilizado, ideia tratada por vários autores por meio categorias como cordialidade, jeitinho brasileiro, patrimonialismo, malandragem.
