Resumo: This article describes the universes in which there is solitude, that in so many ways get announced, in the novel Estranhos no Paraíso (2000), by the catarinense writer Oldemar Olsen Jr.. In the context of this novel´s composition, it makes a comparative study with the work As I Lay Dying, by William Faulkner, putting in evidence how the narrator´s voice gets mixed-up to the voices of the protagonist, interlacing to the facts searched in the memory. Then, through the monologues or stream of consciousness in these two novels, that it is possible realizing the presence of the solitude and points in two distinct contexts: the post-modern and the existencialist.

Em geral, seus textos e obras retratam, denunciam e protestam contra a hipocrisia da sociedade brasileira, que se arrasta desde os anos 60 até o período vigente. Não é à toa que este escritor-contestador-catarinense, Olsen Jr., como se auto-intitula, participa com sua valorosa obra de vários concursos literários e, em muitos deles, conquista o primeiro lugar. Pode-se ver ainda que todas as obras produzidas e publicadas antes de 2000 por este escritor, cuja vida e obra entrelaçam-se e completam-se, servem de inspiração para o seu livro: Estranhos no Paraíso. Mesmo tendo sido sua história escrita nos anos 90, é ambientada no fim dos anos 60 com toda a conturbada atmosfera que motiva e torna ainda mais forte o aparecimento da solidão.Palavras-chave: Olsen Jr. Literatura Catarinense.
