Resumo: | This text highlights the role of the Marrazes School Museum in the dissemination of the historical-educational heritage. Located in an urban neighborhood in the municipality of Leiria, in the central region of Portugal, it was created by a group of teachers of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education of Marrazes in 1992, as a result of the pedagogical project "The School through the Ages". Due to the volume of the collection gathered, with the active participation of the community, the Parish Council of Marrazes assumed its conservation and exhibition, opening the museum to the public on May 16, 1997. In 2001 it became part of the Portuguese Museum Network. In the museum's permanent exhibition, the reply of a Estado Novo classroom stands out, with desks, blackboards, pointers, nib pens, donkey's ears, ruler, palmatoria and gowns. It is also possible to view a collection of traditional toys, an exhibition about the Portuguese Youth and Primary Education books since the nineteenth century. With 25 years of existence, the museum maintains a program of activities for schools in the region and for the general public. However, it suffers the consequences of a lack of financial resources, staff and adequate physical space for its operation. In this sense, thinking about a more interactive, inclusive and social museum requires the responsibility of the local authority with the maintenance of this important heritage that is gathered in Leiria, but which reflects the national reality. The text addresses studies on material culture, museology and historical-educational heritage. |
