RELIGIOSITY, DISCIPLINE AND CONTROL IN SPACES OF FORMAL EDUCATION: the production of docility of bodies by the school achitecture

Resumo: From the analysis of the achitecture of school space, this paper seeks to problematize discipline and religion as stratagies of control over students who are part of public institutions of Basic Education e Higher Education. Therefore, through photographies of five formal education institutions, we researched school spaces and we built, in dialogue with authors who study school, religiosity, disciplinary and discoursive power, understandings about the production of docility over the body and life of students. Through the images, we find spaces designed to exercise limits, rules of conduct, hierarchy and excessive surveillance. In these institutions, we are faced with verbal and non-verbal discourses that help in the maintanance of order of things and the silencing of subjectivities. We realize that the useful and obedient body that disciplinary power produces is very similiar to the efficient and resilient individual tha economicl globalization encourages today. In conclusion, we understand that school institution has difficulties in moving away from the religious specificity that created it, currently having religious interests defended in the educational agenda.

Para tanto, a través de la fotografía de cinco instituciones de educación formal, investiga los espacios escolares y construye, junto a autores que estudian la escuela, la religiosidad, el poder disciplinar y el discurso, comprensiones sobre la producción de la docilidad del cuerpo de los escolares. Por medio de las imágenes muestra espacios planeados para ejercer límites, reglas de conducta, jerarquía y vigilancia excesiva. En las instituciones investigadas circulan discursos verbales y no verbales que ayudan a mantener el orden de las cosas y actúan en la producción del poder disciplinar. El cuerpo útil y obediente que el poder disciplinar fabrica es muy similar al individuo eficiente y resiliente que la globalización económica incentiva actualmente. Las conclusiones indican que la institución escolar presenta dificultades para alejarse de la especificidad religiosa que la creó, actualmente volviendo a los intereses religiosos defendidos en la agenda educativa.A partir da análise da arquitetura e da organização do espaço escolar, este artigo busca problematizar a disciplina e a religiosidade como estratégias de controle sobre os discentes que integram instituições públicas de Educação Básica e de Educação Superior. Para tanto, através da fotografia de cinco instituições de educação formal, pesquisa os espaços escolares e constrói, junto a autores que estudam a escola, a religiosidade, o poder disciplinar e o discurso compreensões sobre a produção da docilidade do corpo dos escolares. Por meio das imagens, mostra espaços planejados para exercer limites, regras de condutas, hierarquia e vigilância excessiva. Nas instituições pesquisadas circulam discursos verbais e não-verbais que auxiliam na manutenção da ordem das coisas e atuam na produção do poder disciplinar. O corpo útil e obediente que o poder disciplinar fabrica é muito semelhante ao indivíduo eficiente e resiliente que a globalização econômica incentiva atualmente.
