Digital documents: preservation and strategies

The archival digital preservation is an object of study that proposes standards, regulations, policies, criteria and procedures for digital preservation. To understand the theoretical and methodological approaches that have been published, there was a data collection of references on the subject of preservation documents into digital files, mainly seeking recent writings related to archival. The digital documents become quickly due to the vulnerability of the digital environment. These are fragile and there is enough security to ensure their long-term digital preservation. This weakness may be in their rapid physical deterioration, obsolescence in technological complexity and costs. The answers to this challenge, there are digital preservation strategies which seek to incorporate all aspects related to this issue: costs, legislation, management, access, policies and criteria. These strategies together partial solutions before a complex problem, being involved, among other things, migration, emulation, archeology digital encryption, metadata, open technologies, open or as XML, HTML, Dublin Core. This descriptive showed that preservation is related to the digital storage capacity, migration and dissemination of information which is most often administered centrally. In order to solve this problem, there have been several proposals today for digital preservation. Including: refresher, Migration, Migration supports analog, update versions; Conversion to competing formats; Standardization; Migration application; Migration distributed; Emulation; Encapsulation; 4.1.5 The Digital Rosetta Stone, Digital Archaeology, Conservation of hardware and software.; Technology free or open as XML, HTML, PDF it, Reprographics. Of preservation strategies presented, it is emphasized that migration along with emulation, are the strategies that have evolved more and more are being used, Ferreira (2011).
