Resumo: The labor market is at the apex of competitiveness. In the era of information society, the human factor is valued in the production process, by transforming information into knowledge and capital. In the area of library is different. This article aims to provoke a reflection on the recognition of the role of the librarian in society cariri of Ceará, before the manipulation of information and communication technologies (TICs), requirements of information society and of knowledge. Finally we intend to highlight the role of information professionals and their potential in the labor market.

En la era de la sociedad de la información, el factor humano es valorado en el proceso de producción, mediante la transformación de la información en conocimiento y capital. En el área de biblioteca no es diferente. Este artículo pretende provocar la reflexión sobre el reconocimiento del papel del bibliotecario en la sociedad do cariri no Ceará, ante la manipulación de tecnologías de la información y la comunicación (TIC), los requisitos de la sociedad de la información y el conocimiento. Por último tenemos la intención de hacer relevante el papel de los profesionales de la información y su potencial en el mercado laboral.O mercado de trabalho está no ápice da competitividade. Na era da sociedade da informação, o fator humano é valorizado no processo produtivo, ao transformar o conhecimento e a informação em capital. Na área da biblioteconomia não é diferente.
