Resumo: Current trends in main memory capacity and cost indicate that in a few years most performance-critical applications will have all (or most of) their data stored in the main mem- ory of the nodes of a small-size cluster. A few recent research papers have pointed this out and proposed architectures tak- ing advantage of clustered nvironments aggregating power- ful processors equipped with large main memories. This position paper proposes yet another approach, which builds on Distributed Shared Memory systems (DSMs) introduced in the early 80’s. We introduce the idea of the dsmDB, dis- cuss how its architecture could be organized, and elaborate on some of its algorithms. We conclude the paper with a discussion of some of its advantages and drawbacks.

A arquitetura dsmDB, a qual implementa tal proposta, é apresentada. Vantagens e desvantagens da abordagem são elencadas e discutidas.Universidade Federal do Rio Grande2010-11-12info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetor/article/view/1641VETOR - Journal of Exact Sciences and Engineering; Vol. 16 No. 2 (2006); 5-15VETOR - Revista de Ciências Exatas e Engenharias; v. 16 n. 2 (2006); 5-152358-34520102-7352reponame:Vetor (Online)instname:Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG)instacron:FURGporhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetor/article/view/1641/785Copyright (c) 2014 VETOR - Revista de Ciências Exatas e Engenhariasinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessDuarte Filho, NelsonPedone, Fernando2023-03-22T15:42:39Zoai:periodicos.furg.br:article/1641Revistahttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetorPUBhttps://periodicos.furg.br/vetor/oaigmplatt@furg.br2358-34520102-7352opendoar:2023-03-22T15:42:39Vetor (Online) - Universidade Federal do Rio Grande (FURG)false
