The importance of environmental education in the preservation of birds at Parque das Acácias in Uberaba, MG

Resumo: The birds are fundamental in any natural environment, both for the life of the urban population and for the ecosystem. Urban parks are of great importance, as they represent favorable places for the development, reproduction and survival of birds. Observing the large flow of visitors to the Parque das Acácias in Uberaba-MG and the rich biodiversity, the present work aims to analyze and sensitize the public about the importance of the avifauna present in the park. As a method, a research was carried out, through the application of semi-structured questionnaires and content analysis (BARDIN, 2009), in addition to carrying out an Environmental Education activity to raise awareness on the subject. The results of this survey showed that half of the visitors who answered the questionnaires have an eco-environmental view and 92.5% think it is important to have some information about the birds in the park. Although an expressive portion of the visitors have a notion of the ecological function of birds, the answers were only basic concepts, with Environmental Education being of paramount importance, with the dissemination of scientific knowledge as an alternative for the conservation and preservation of the local avifauna.

Los parques urbanos son de gran importancia, ya que representan lugares propicios para el desarrollo, reproducción y supervivencia de las aves. Observando el gran flujo de visitantes al Parque das Acácias en Uberaba-MG y la rica biodiversidad, el presente trabajo tiene como objetivo analizar y sensibilizar al público sobre la importancia de la avifauna presente en el parque. Como método se realizó una investigación, mediante la aplicación de cuestionarios semiestructurados y análisis de contenido (BARDIN, 2009), además de realizar una actividad de Educación Ambiental para sensibilizar sobre el tema. Los resultados de esta encuesta mostraron que la mitad de los visitantes que respondieron los cuestionarios tienen una visión ecoambiental y el 92,5% piensa que es importante tener alguna información sobre las aves del parque. Si bien una parte expresiva de los visitantes tiene una noción de la función ecológica de las aves, las respuestas fueron solo conceptos básicos, siendo la Educación Ambiental de suma importancia, con la difusión del conocimiento científico como alternativa para la conservación y preservación de la avifauna local.As aves são fundamentais em qualquer meio natural, tanto para a vida da população urbana quanto para o ecossistema. Os parques urbanos são de grande importância, pois representam locais favoráveis para o desenvolvimento, reprodução e sobrevivência das aves. Observando o grande fluxo de frequentadores no Parque das Acácias em Uberaba-MG e a rica biodiversidade, o presente trabalho visa analisar e sensibilizar o público sobre a importância da avifauna presente no parque. Como método, foi realizada uma pesquisa, através da aplicação de questionários semiestruturados e análise de conteúdo (BARDIN, 2009), além da efetuação de uma atividade de Educação Ambiental para conscientização sobre o assunto. Os resultados dessa pesquisa mostraram que metade dos frequentadores questionados possui uma visão eco ambiental e 92.5% acham importante ter alguma informação das aves no parque.
