A avaliação dedados de nível superficial simulados ao longo da Lagoa dos Patos indicou que, apesar de consideráveis variações entre o norte e o sul da lagoa, não se observou variações significativas de nível entre uma margem e outra nas regiões em estudo, que abrangem a região intermediária dalagoa. Tal fato permitiu que dados de nível da margem oeste fornecidos pela Agência Nacional de Águas representassem a margem leste em interesse, uma vez que o aqüífero costeiro em estudo localiza-se neste lado da lagoa. Com a obtenção dos dados de nível pôde-se avaliar a influência das águas superficiais da lagoa sobre o aqüífero em estudo, onde constatou-se que suas águas, juntamente com a precipitação, corresponderam as principais fontes de recarga deste aqüífero. Desenvolveu-se uma metodologia para calcular o tempo de residência entre o processo de recarga a partir das águas superficiais da lagoa e a descarga das águas do lençol freático no oceano. Constatado que as águas superficiais da Lagoa dos Patos e a precipitação correspondem à principal fonte de recarga do aqüífero freático em estudo, avaliou-se, a partir dos teores de silicato presentes nas águas do lençol freático, como as condições superficiais da lagoa e as taxas pluviométricas afetam os fluxos subterrâneos. Utilizou-se, portanto as concentrações de silicato como traçadores dos fluxos subterrâneos em virtude de serem diretamente proporcionais. Pelo fato da restinga ter sido originada por um substrato sedimentar a condutividade hidráulica não é constante, pois existe uma seqüência de deposições de sedimentos permeáveis e lama. Entretanto, quando existem sedimentos impermeáveis, como na região da célula central e sul estas atuam como separadoras de aqüífero, constituindo assim um aqüífero suspenso, o qual é influenciado pelas águas da Lagoa dos Patos, pela precipitação e por um aqüífero mais profundo. Este também deve ser influenciado pela Lagoa dos Patos, pois na célula norte, onde não se observa esta camada impermeável, os poços profundos (15m) possuem águas com as mesmas características dos poços superficiais.In the groundwater of the area of located barrier spit between the Patos Lagoon and the South Atlantic Ocean, happens a more dynamic mechanism than what is observed in most of the aquifers system, fact this, due to the presence of a recharge(Patos Lagoon) located near to the discharge (South Atlantic Ocean) and the presence of permeable sandy sediments among both. The evaluation of data of simulatedsuperficial level along the Patos lagoon it indicated that, in spite of considerable variations between the north and south of the lagoon, it was not observed significant variations of level among a margin and other in the areas in study, that enclose the intermediate area of the lagoon. Such fact allowed that data of level of the margin west supplied by the “Agência Nacional de Águas” they represented the margin east in interest, once the coastal aquifer in study is located on this side of the lagoon. With the obtaining of the level data the influence of the superficial waters of the lagoon could be evaluated on the superficial waters of the lagoon could be evaluated on the aquifer in study, where it was verified that yours waters, together with the precipitation they correspond the main sources of recharge of this aquifer. We developed a methodology to calculate the time of residence among the recharge process from the superficial waters of the lagoon and the discharge of the groundwaters in the ocean. Verified that the superficial waters of the Patos Lagoon and the precipitation correspond to main source of recharge of the aquifer in study, it was evaluated as the superficial conditions of the lagoon and the rain rates they affect the underground flows from the silicate concentration present in the groundwater. It was used, therefore, the silicate concentration as tracer of the underground flows by virtue of they be directly proportional. For the fact of the barrier spit it was originated by a sedimentary substratum, they hydraulic conductivity is not constant, because a sequence of depositions of permeable sediments and mud exists.
