Resumo: | The analysis of the pteridoflora of a swampy area in a preserved remnant of the coastal plain (“restinga”) forest in Rio Grande do Sul state, Brazil, is presented. Few studies include information on the pteridophytes occurring in this kind of forest, in Brazil. Diversity, substract preferences, seasonal patterns and life forms were recorded. A total of 26 species was found. The most representative family is Polypodiaceae, with 11 species, while the families with lower representativity were Dennstaedtiaceae, Blechnaceae, Dryopteridaceae, Thelypteridaceae, Aspleniaceae, Cyatheaceae, Marsileaceae, Osmundaceae, Salviniaceae and Vittariaceae. Most of the species (38%) grow in the soil and humus, while bark is the substract of another substantial part (35%). A smaller proportion (15%) may be found both on the ground and on bark. Two species are aquatic and one is hemiepiphyte. Most species are evergreen homohydric (73%), while poiquilohydrism was observed in some cases (15%). The predominant life form is the hemicryptophytic (42%), followed by the epiphytic (34%). Most species are herbaceous plants. A biological and structural characterization for the 26 species is presented in a table that can be used as a multiple access key for species identification. |

Iheringia.
