Resumo: This study aimed to assess the infl uence of light on the leaf structure of Schinus terebinthifolius implanted in two areas with different degrees of succession on the banks of the Iraí Reservoir, PR. Morphological (leaf area, dry weight, specifi c leaf area, and stomatal density), anatomical (cuticle thickness, adaxial epidermis, palisade and spongy parenchyma, adaxial epidermis, and total thickness), physiological (photosynthesis rate, stomatal conductance, and transpiration) and developmental (height, diameter, and survival) aspects were evaluated over 18 months. Individuals of S. terebinthifolius in regenerating forestspresented a signifi cantly higher leaf area, specifi c leaf area, and height. The thickness of the cuticle, palisade parenchyma and total thickness was signifi cantly higher in the individuals of the open area. The survival rate was satisfactory for both areas but was slightly greater in the regenerating forest area. The results demonstrate the adaptive capacity of this species at different conditions of light.

Iheringia.
