Structural and edaphic aspects of a Seasonal Decidual Forest before fi lling the dam in Araguari, Minas Gerais

Resumo: This study presents information on humidity, physical and chemical characteristics of the soil and arboreal structure of a fragment of the decidual forest located on the margins of the Amador Aguiar II dam, Araguari-Minas Gerais, before its fl ooding. The edaphic conditions and vegetation structure were analyzed in two scales: as the community as a whole and as sampling units that represent the locations closest and most distant from the fl ooding quota. The forest soil is litholic, soil was rich in Ca, Mn, and OC. Soil moisture decreased signifi cantly with increasing depth in two season: dry and wet. A total of 1,625 individuals, 58 species., 19,6m² basal area, 8,5m mean height and 23,5m maximum height were sampled. Between the locations closest and most distant from the quota of fl illing statistical difference was demonstrated only four structural attributes: species and individual densities, maximum height and mean stem diameter.

A análise ocorreu em duas escalas: para a comunidade como um todo e por grupos de unidade amostrais que representarão os locais mais próximos e os mais distantes da cota de alagamento. O solo da fl oresta é do tipo Neossolo Litólico, rico em Ca, Mn e CO. A umidade do solo diminuiu signifi cativamente com o aumento da profundidade nas duas estações climáticas. Foram amostrados 1625 indivíduos, 58 espécies, área basal de 19,6m² e as alturas média com 8,5m e máxima com 23,5m. Entre os locais próximos e distantes da cota de alagamento houve diferença estatística apenas para quatro atributos estruturais: número de indivíduos e de espécies, altura máxima e DAP médio. Iheringia.
