Allelopathic potential of Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D.Hill & L.A.S.Johnson. on the establishment of seedlings of tree species in the Atlantic Forest

Resumo: | This study assessed the allelopathic potential of Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D.Hill & L.A.S.Johnson leaves, on the survival and growth of the seedlings of two native tree species in the Atlantic forest: Lecythis pisonis Cambess. and Plathymenia _eticulate Benth. Aqueous extracts were prepared by infusion of fresh green leaves and freshly-fallen litter of C. citriodora. The extracts adversely aff ected the survival of L. pisonis (control: 82.3%; fresh leaves: 59.1%; litterfall: 74.6%) and P. _eticulate (control: 88.5%; fresh leaves: 61.4%; litterfall: 75.2%), principally on dry weight gain of the root system of L. pisonis (control: 2.22 mg/seedling; fresh leaves: 1.77 mg/seedling; litterfall: 1.93 mg/ seedling) and P. _eticulate (control: 0.13 mg/seedling; fresh leaves: 0.03 mg/seedling; litterfall: 0.05 mg/seedling). Our results indicate an allelopathic potential of C. citriodora on the establishment of native seedlings from the Atlantic Forest in enrichment planting of C. citriodora plantations. |

K.D.Hill & L.A.S.Johnson, sobre a sobrevivência e o crescimento de plântulas de espécies arbóreas do bioma Mata atlântica Lecythis pisonis Cambess. e Plathymenia reticulata Benth. Foram preparados extratos aquosos pela metodologia de infusão das folhas frescas e da serapilheira de eucalipto C. citriodora. Os extratos afetaram negativamente a sobrevivência da L. pisonis (testemunha: 82,3%; folhas frescas: 59,1%, serapilheira: 74,6%) e P. reticulata (testemunha: 88,5%; folhas frescas: 61,4%; serapilheira: 75,2%), interferindo principalmente no ganho de massa seca do sistema radicular da L. pisonis (testemunha: 2,22 mg/plântula; folhas frescas: 1,77 mg/plântula; serapilheira: 1,93 mg/plântula) e P. reticulata (testemunha: 0,13 mg/plântula; folhas frescas: 0,03 mg/plântula; serapilheira: 0,05 mg/plântula). Nossos resultados indicam um potencial alelopático de C. citriodora sobre o estabelecimento de plântulas de espécies arbóreas nativas da Mata atlântica em sub-bosques de plantios desta espécie.Iheringia.
