Resumo: The present study aims to clarify the etiology, prevalence, clinical aspects and diagnoses of non-carious cervical lesions. Lilacs, PubMed and Scielo databases were used, with the following descriptors: dental, lcnc and biocorrosion. Among the inclusion criteria, articles published between 2012 and 2022 were selected in English and Portuguese, where 14 articles were included. The studies showed that most authors agreed that upper premolars are the dental elements most affected by this type of injury, either due to mechanical or acid wear, besides the female sex being more prevalent in the disease. Once some mechanisms cause molecular degradation and consequently tooth wear due to erosion such as gastroesophageal reflux and/or acid diet. Another contributing event to the problem is the force of energy released that propagates in dental tissues such as tension, tightening and cracking. According to the results found, it is concluded that non-carious cervical lesions (CNLs) have different forms of presentation and different etiological factors, becoming a multifactorial disease. Consequently, it is necessary to study such events in order to seek improvement on the subject and, thus, assist dentists in the diagnosis and management of treatment.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-07-12info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/34010.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n3p983-993Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 3 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 983-993Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 3 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 983-993Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 3 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 983-9932674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/340/418Copyright (c) 2023 Lílian Gomes Soares Pires, Edilyane kese Santos Silva, Larissa Gabrielle Santos de Miranda, Ary Oliveira Pires, Isabela Soares Pires, Arthur Soares Pireshttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGomes Soares Pires, Lílian Santos Silva, Edilyane keseSantos de Miranda, Larissa GabriellePires, Ary OliveiraPires, Isabela SoaresPires, Arthur Soares2023-07-12T12:52:14Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/340Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-07-12T12:52:14Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
