Resumo: This study investigated the incidence of congenital syphilis in Brazil between 2015 and 2021, considering variables such as geographic region, maternal education, age, prenatal care, and race. Congenital syphilis is a global public health concern, transmitted from mother to fetus, especially during the early stages of infection. Despite the strategies proposed by the World Health Organization (WHO) to eliminate congenital syphilis, Brazil faces persistent challenges in this context. The study aimed to analyze trends and correlations associated with congenital syphilis in different Brazilian regions, focusing on variables such as maternal education, age, prenatal care, and race. The objective was to inform public health policies and specific interventions to prevent and control this health condition, especially among socially vulnerable groups. During the analyzed period, Brazil recorded a significant incidence of congenital syphilis, with the Southeast region presenting the highest rate. It was observed that young mothers, with low education levels and of mixed race, were more susceptible. The lack of adequate prenatal care was identified as a significant risk factor. Despite a temporary reduction in cases in recent years, the global trend suggests that congenital syphilis continues to be a growing challenge. Congenital syphilis persists as a public health challenge in Brazil, especially among socially vulnerable groups. The lack of adequate prenatal consultations, low maternal education, and underreporting of cases contribute to the prevalence of the disease. Intervention strategies should be targeted at these groups, focusing on increasing the frequency and quality of prenatal care, as well as involving partners in the educational process. Effective implementation of WHO guidelines and improvement in case reporting are crucial to combat congenital syphilis. The study highlights the need for a comprehensive approach, from primary care to postpartum follow-up, to ensure the effectiveness of prevention and control actions for this health condition.
