Impact of orthodontic treatment on periodontal tissues: a narrative review of the multidisciplinary literature.

Resumo: The purpose of this review is to describe the most commonly observed changes in the periodontium caused by orthodontic treatment, in order to facilitate collaboration and communication by experts. An electronic database search was performed using the PubMed abstract and citation database and bibliographic material was used to find other appropriate sources. Periodontal soft and hard tissue changes during orthodontic treatment and patient care are discussed in order to provide an exhaustive picture of the possible interactions between these two intertwined disciplines.
