Resumo: This article aims to carry out a comparative analysis of the outcome of patients treated for macular hole pathology at a private institution in western Paraná between 2017 and 2022, in order to understand the relevance and impact on the patient's visual acuity of the different treatment approaches. We used data taken from patient records provided by a private institution, varying in age, without distinction of race or gender. It was concluded that surgical treatment of macular holes has a major positive impact on patients' visual acuity, achieving optimal normal vision in the long term. On the other hand, a conservative approach, with only monitoring of the pathology, resulted in a significant worsening of visual acuity. It is therefore understood that a surgical approach to macular hole pathology is the best option for re-establishing the patient's visual acuity and improving their quality of life.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-04-03info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/178010.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n4p349-356Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 4 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - IMPACT FACTOR SJIF 5.807; 349-356Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 4 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807; 349-356Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 4 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3 - FATOR DE IMPACTO SJIF 5.807; 349-3562674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1780/2050Copyright (c) 2024 Ana Luiza Nitsche Sontag, Roberto Augusto Fernandes Machadohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNitsche Sontag, Ana LuizaFernandes Machado, Roberto Augusto2024-04-09T11:05:05Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1780Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-04-09T11:05:05Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
