Resumo: Aesthetic procedures play a crucial role in global perception, bringing non-invasive innovations. Over the last 20 years, the growing demand for aesthetic interventions highlights the importance to a better understanding about patients' beauty standards and motivations. Aesthetic appreciation is associated with cultural, social and individual factors, and it leads patients to seek procedures such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers to delay signs of aging, especially on the face. Therefore, the objective of this literature review is to investigate the importance of regulating mood and well-being through the assessment of patients, prior to injectable aesthetic procedures. The present work analyzed some articles published between 1994 and 2023, according to following descriptors: neuroscience in aesthetics, concept of beauty, neurotransmitters, anamnesis, botulinum toxin and self-esteem. This careful analysis allowed for an in-depth understanding, contributing to the dissemination of knowledge and professional practices focused on the well-being of patients. Preventing complications in patients with aesthetic disorders requires early identification of signs and symptoms, highlighting the importance of a detailed anamnesis about previous procedures and psychiatric history. The adequate regulation of neurotransmitters emerges as a crucial aspect in aesthetic procedures, influencing not only organic functions, but also the emotional experience and psychological well-being of patients. Prior psychological assessment, by understanding individual needs, together with neurochemical harmony in regulating mood and anxiety, contributes to more satisfactory results, promoting safety, effectiveness and comprehensive health. This integrated approach results in positive and long-lasting aesthetic experiences

This integrated approach results in positive and long-lasting aesthetic experiencesLos procedimientos estéticos desempeñan un papel crucial en la percepción global, impulsando innovaciones no invasivas. Specialized Dentistry Group2024-03-28info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/176610.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n3p2601-2626Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 3 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2601-2626Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 3 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2601-2626Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 3 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 2601-26262674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1766/1991Copyright (c) 2024 Bruna Carneiro de Miranda Lima, Caroline Cardozo Gasparin, Paulo Cézar Gregóriohttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessLima, Bruna Carneiro de MirandaCardozo Gasparin, Caroline Gregório, Paulo Cézar2024-03-28T16:44:27Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1766Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-03-28T16:44:27Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
