This article aims to carry out a study in the medical literature about the relationship between anxious and depressive symptoms and the quality of life of medical students. The indexers PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO (Scientific Electronic Library Online) and Google Scholar were used as search engines to select articles, using the keywords “Quality of life, Students, Medicine, Anxiety.” It was possible to conclude that several factors negatively impact students' quality of life, such as stress resulting from the intense academic load, pressure for high performance, separation from family and friends, and exposure to emotionally exhausting situations, such as contact with critically ill patients and death.  Therefore, it is necessary to implement effective measures to mitigate the negative impacts of medical training on students' mental health and quality of life.
