Resumo: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by chronic hyperglycemia resulting from changes in the performance and/or production of insulin by the pancreas. Diabetic neuropathy (DN) is the most frequent complication of DM, in which there is nerve damage causing changes in proprioception, balance, muscle strength and protective sensitivity, factors that predispose the individual to falls, ulceration and amputation. This article aims to demonstrate the importance and therapeutic methods used by physiotherapists in diabetic neuropathy. For this, guidelines, manuals and articles from digital platforms such as: Lilacs, Scielo, Google Scholar and Pubmed were used. It was observed that DM has a major impact on global health due to its exponential growth and the physiotherapist has a great role in ND through strengthening exercises, gait training and diabetic foot prevention actions.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-02-14info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/145910.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n2p1262-1282Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1262-1282Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1262-1282Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1262-12822674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1459/1655Copyright (c) 2024 Karoline Raffaele Maichuk Miguel, Rafhael Juchem de Oliveira, Caroline Cardozo Gasparinhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccess Maichuk Miguel, Karoline RaffaeleJuchem de Oliveira, RafhaelCardozo Gasparin, Caroline2024-02-14T20:31:18Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1459Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-02-14T20:31:18Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
