Resumo: The intestinal microbiota is a vast complex of microorganisms that inhabit the gastrointestinal tract and are crucial for the host's health. They play a role in the digestion and absorption of nutrients, the immune system, and defense against pathogens. Therefore, the predominance of a balanced microbial community is essential, as changes in its composition are associated with the development of diseases. To achieve this, access to quality and reliable information is crucial, and this can be facilitated through Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), tools used to process information and assist in communication using hardware such as computers and mobile phones, and services like social media, blogs, and apps. In this context, social media, in particular, is a key factor for disseminating content about health and intestinal microbiota due to the ease of accessing and sharing information in a simple and instant manner. Therefore, it is essential to understand how the population can access accurate and impactful information about the composition of a healthy intestinal microbiota, ways to promote microbial balance through probiotics, factors and lifestyle habits that lead to microbial imbalance, prevention measures, and the challenges that may arise in providing this access, such as fake news, limited accessibility, and information overload.

Specialized Dentistry Group2024-02-14info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/143610.36557/2674-8169.2024v6n2p1282-1310Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 No. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1282-1310Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 6 Núm. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1282-1310Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 6 n. 2 (2024): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 1282-13102674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1436/1656Copyright (c) 2024 Daniela Neves de Sat'ana, Ralciane de Paula Menezes, Denise Von Dolinger de Brito Röder Roderhttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessNeves de Sant'Ana, Danielade Paula Menezes, RalcianeRöder, Denise Von Dolinger de Brito2024-02-16T14:24:06Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1436Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2024-02-16T14:24:06Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
