Resumo: Infective Endocarditis (IE) is a challenging medical condition involving inflammation of the inner lining of the heart, typically stemming from bacterial infections. This study addresses the broad spectrum of therapeutic strategies employed in managing this complex condition, emphasizing the evaluation of antibiotics and the significance of cardiac surgery as treatment modalities. The judicious selection and effective administration of antibiotics emerge as fundamental elements in combating the bacterial nature of IE. The critical analysis of the literature aims to identify therapies that consider not only bacterial resistance but also the need for an individualized approach for each patient. Furthermore, the study explores the role of cardiac surgery in IE management, particularly in severe cases where complications such as voluminous vegetations, abscesses, or significant valve insufficiency may be present. The systematic review of available data aims to assess the benefits and risks associated with surgical intervention, providing a comprehensive understanding of therapeutic options for IE patients. The study also underscores the critical importance of a multidisciplinary approach in IE treatment. Close collaboration among cardiologists, infectious disease specialists, and cardiac surgeons is essential to ensuring a comprehensive and personalized intervention. Constant knowledge updates on new research and therapeutic developments are vital for continuously enhancing clinical practices and delivering optimal care to patients grappling with challenging IE. In summary, this study contributes to an in-depth understanding and ongoing improvement of therapeutic strategies employed in IE management, offering valuable insights for healthcare professionals involved in the care of these complex patients.

Specialized Dentistry Group2023-12-30info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/115010.36557/2674-8169.2023v5n5p6672-6686Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 No. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 6672-6686Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; Vol. 5 Núm. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 6672-6686Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences ; v. 5 n. 5 (2023): BJIHS QUALIS B3; 6672-66862674-8169reponame:Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciencesinstname:Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)instacron:GOEporhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/article/view/1150/1341Copyright (c) 2023 Leticia Grisolia Barbosa , Karina da Penha Zucchi, Lucas Antônio Santos Lacerda, Luana Alves Bicalho , Íris Clara dos Santos https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessGrisolia Barbosa , Leticia da Penha Zucchi, Karina Antônio Santos Lacerda, LucasAlves Bicalho , Luana Clara dos Santos , Íris2023-12-30T21:49:44Zoai:ojs.bjihs.emnuvens.com.br:article/1150Revistahttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihsONGhttps://bjihs.emnuvens.com.br/bjihs/oaijournal.bjihs@periodicosbrasil.com.br2674-81692674-8169opendoar:2023-12-30T21:49:44Brazilian Journal of Implantology and Health Sciences - Grupo de Odontologia Especializada (GOE)false
